This Privacy Policy describes how MyWealthLens ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use our website at mywealthlens.com and our Pro subscription service.

We comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and note obligations under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

1. Who we are

MyWealthLens is a South African financial planning tool. For privacy enquiries, contact us at: support@mywealthlens.com.

2. What data we collect

Free calculator users: No personal data is collected. All calculations run in your browser. No data is sent to our servers.

Pro subscribers: When you create an account or subscribe, we collect:

• Email address (used for account login and transactional emails)
• Name (optional, used for PayFast payment processing)
• Subscription status, plan type, and billing dates
• Payment reference identifiers from PayFast (we do not store card numbers or banking details)

3. How we use your data

• To create and manage your Pro account
• To process subscription payments via PayFast
• To send transactional emails (subscription confirmation, renewal reminders, cancellation notices)
• To verify your subscription status when you use the calculator

We do not use your data for marketing without your explicit consent, and we do not sell your data to third parties.

4. Legal basis for processing (GDPR)

• Contract performance: Processing your account and subscription
• Legitimate interest: Sending subscription-related transactional emails
• Consent: Any optional marketing communications (we will ask separately)

5. Third-party services

• Supabase — Authentication and database (servers in US/EU). Privacy policy

6. Data retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active, or for up to 7 years after account closure for tax and legal compliance purposes. Subscription payment records may be retained longer if required by South African law.

Under GDPR (and POPIA for South African residents), you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
• Object to processing or request restriction
• Data portability (receive your data in a machine-readable format)
• Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa) or relevant EU supervisory authority

8. Cookies

We use only functional cookies strictly necessary to maintain your login session. We do not use tracking, analytics, or advertising cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but this will log you out of your Pro account.

9. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including HTTPS, encrypted authentication tokens, and row-level security on our database. Payment card data is handled exclusively by PayFast — we never see or store it.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify Pro subscribers of material changes by email. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
